Get incoming links from Facebook – No catch !

Man we SEOs are kinda obsessed with getting backlinks isn’t it? I would not mind if someone called me up in the midnight to let know of a way to source incoming links from “unexplored, valuable” sources – Like Facebook.
And now we have an option to source incoming links from facebook. Yep! Crawlable, links from facebook pages that are indexed by search engines. Here’s how.
Create a new page under a suitable category, and add your sites RSS feeds to the content. It’s as simple as it, but for the ones who need guidance, here’s the details.
- Log on to facebook, Go to Pagemanager.
- Create a new page
- Make sure you have content filled in to all the required fields (optional)
- Goto Add applications link
- Select a good RSS application that displays your content with necessary tweakable options.
The pages would have URL something similar to http://www.facebook.com/pages/yourpagename/16353671142
Something to note here while creating the page.
Use the page options properly and fill in with relevant content that will support the links and any targeted keywords if at all any.
Choose the category into which the page will be placed with care, you might want to select a topic relevant category.
Choose the page name properly, rather than a fancy name use it cleverly.
The links displayed on the page are crawlable by search engines, and links indexed, this has been tested and confirmed. But it is critical that you do it carefully and not create a page just for the sake of getting some backlinks.

Many of the ways we get links back to our website also offer good usability. It is when SEO professionals exploit the vulnerabilities of the link value were it gets shady, from a Google link value perspective of course.
You are right Alan. I strongly advice not to use this method if you dont have any real use or the page. Like if you have a fan club of something, it makes sense to have a page, but otherwise, I’m guessing facebook should delete any page that doesnt have any activity/participation.
Thanks Mani. I had previously known about the viability of conducting business on facebook ( not sure though whether it leads to sales ) but getting links and that too crawable was just amazing.

I don’t see any good use for this seo method at this moment, but when I’ll start a new blog, and I intend to do it pretty soon, it’s use might come in handy.
But someday facebook will start filtering this. Right?

So this mean we must have a fan club first before creating Pagemaker as I can see the feature on Facebook to begin with? Can we join other fan club and create it?
