Thank you for this article. Clearly “Less links but more power” is a myth. Also bear in mind no link harms a site (site wide or whatever). A search engine can never assign a minus value to a link. There can be links with higher values. If a search engine devalued a certain type of link, people would start to build that type of links for the other people and everything would be messed up.

Louis, those are not appropriate. If you are counting the number of backlinks to do a competition analysis, Yahoo is the best tool.

Google can show more search results by clicking “include omitted search results”. maybe the results are not as much as yahoo, but it’s more than the usual results.
