Add category specific custom messages to posts – WordPress Hack
| Tweet | Share |
WordPress 2.7 comes with a category class, which can be exploited to create custom messages for each category on the article pages. This is a bright idea that you could use to take advantage of the most popular category on your blog. You could either use the custom message to promote a product, or just give a “surprise” message to the reader or something similar.
What the hack does – Displays a custom styled text message either on main article page (single.php) , at the end of the post, that will appear only on selected categories.
The custom category message hack is illustrated with a detailed How-to tutorial by the folks at Vandelay design here.

WordPress is awesome, and here’s another reason why it will remain king for a long long time to come…..thanks for the tip. Vandalay Design has an awesome blog too, with loads more goodies on it.
There are so many new things added in wordpress 2.7. I’m still clicking around. Category section is easier than previous version.
Great post mani,
I want to know how much can i charge for doing link building work? and how much is it possible to build quality links per month.
I had no record of my previous works because i build them all because of my enthusiasm over my own blog.
And also please consider posting the list of Do-Follow Social bookmarking sites.
With regards,
Balaji Prakash
Balaji, your charge I assume should depend on what project you are working on as link building requires lot of content development as well. Clearly you cannot charge a real estate site and an entertainment site alike. A real estate site will need more hard work to develop “likeable content” than an entertainment site. So it varies from case to case.
