Google's personalised search offering will really make the individual experience so much better and more relevant, while the backbone of their search engine will still work on keywords/phrases and how well pages competing for those keywords/phrases stack up after the algorithm assimilated all the relevant parameters. I do foresee that if a couple of hundred thousand users all vote the same page to the top it will somehow have to reflect in overall returned search results though.

It's been a while Mani. I think great content will be the wave of the future when it comes to ranking. With video enhancement, simple design programs, and blog writing software... it should be rather simple for an average Joe to become successful. If you take the time to add friends into the thousands, then the social networking sites will "super-size" your chances.

Yea in my experience traffic is a becoming more important a factor to decide if a site is genuine or not. I can't think of agood reason why SEs should think that a site with regular spikes in traffic is a bad one. May be even if they have a not-so-good SEO done, the social media traffic helps a lot, probably it's because of the backlink potential it has.

If traffic is becoming more important then do we need to start taking more notice of Alexa than PR?
