10 Cool Tools to have Fun with Twitter

Sometimes, excessive tweeting can get you bored ! Don’t agree? Come on, how long can one listen to all those “how to promote your site” and “How to get rich through Twitter” kinda stories?

Here are ten cool tools that are not the normal boring type. They’ll help you have some fun with Twitter.

1. WP Tweety

Real Time twitter trend tracker to track WordPress related stories. Anything wordpress, would pop up real time as you watch it, really useful for tracking developments and news on WordPress! Why I like it ? Try putting this guy up on your big screen, its nice seeing all those tweets pop up one by one. Cute!

2. TwitterFall

Track the recent trends on Twitter with waterfalls. The most recent tweets related to the trend keeps “falling in” from the top, while you can switch between various trends from the left menu.

3. Trend Cloud

Track Twitter trends in cloud form with (just like the WP tags) and narrowing down your search including interested terms and excluding unwanted terms.

4. Twitree

This one doesn’t track trends as such, but it visualizes your Twitter followers in a tree sort of fashion where from you can do all the functions like re-tweet, reply. Its a fun way to tweet. Clicking on the small plus icons will give you the followers tree structure, its fun !

5. Tweetag

This tool lets you find out all the a) Links and b) Statuses related to particular word. Ex: If you want to track “seo” just type in the word and track either links or statuses. I very often track links using this tool for various topics, it shows me links people have posted related to that topic. Very useful and fun tool.

6. Twitter Mug

This tool lets you create a nice customized mug with all your followers photos printed on it, which optionally you can buy for $14.

7. Twitter Threads

This tool lets you visualize your Twitter conversations in thread format. NO big deal here, neat and cool. Just give in the conversation status number and it will do the rest.

8. Twitter Business Card

Make your fun twitter business card from a range of pre-made templates. You could also use this one for the next barcamp. (Oh yea my design sucks, check out their wide range of templates pls)

9. Twitter Portrait

Create a lovely Twitter portrait using all your conversations and tweets and share it with your friends. They’re sure to ask you – “How did you do that ?”

10. Twitter Signature Creator

Create a signature image with your recent tweet for use in forums/emails etc. A cool way to show off your tweets elsewhere other than twitter. Wish they had more fun templates though.
