How to get more followers on Twitter
Its one question everybody wants an answer for. How do people get thousands of followers on Twitter within a short span of time? Why not me? I spent all the time on Twitter but it doesn’t help. How do I get more followers in less time?
Followers are like money. If you don’t have followers, people think that you’re not important, while actually you might be. And since Twitter is a “learning process” everybody has their own idea about how to get more followers, how to engage with them and what to tweet about.
While we’re at it, a good idea would be follow people who’ve been there, done it, rather than making assumptions ourselves and experimenting with it. Particularly, all the folks who had joined earlier from the start days carry a lot more experience than newbies and they know how to manage your followers and build a following. And here’s my two cents on getting more followers on Twitter.
Twitter is essentially a communication tool, it has been modified to so many different ways by usage, so everyone has their own idea of using Twitter. Some think that its a marketing tool so they go around posting affiliate links to their tweets, while some think that Twitter is a communication medium so they use it as an alternative for their IM client.
However you use Twitter, there are some common things every twitter user agree on. Everybody needs a valid reason for following someone else on Twitter and that is the only thing that you should worry about.
What will you give to others if they follow you ? Ask yourself that question and do what you can. Nobody wants to follow you just because he’s your friend. If he doesn’t follow you he can save on some API’s at least. So give people a reason to follow you. Here are some tips that ay help you.
1 – Share value with people
Give them links to interesting websites – Like funny pics or resource lists to free download googies. If you know them, share it with your followers. Most people like such stuff, there’s nobody who doesn’t.
2 – Communicate well
- Reply to interesting people, get in to discussions and make your point. Don’t just sit there watching the tweets flow, if you see opportunities in them, pounce right away, grab the opportunity and prove your point. It all adds up to your reputation.
3 – Do favours for others and get them in return
- There are lot of good things you can do people on Twitter. Retweet them, answer their questions, help them find and answer to questions, follow them on #followfriday. These are all things that will get you noticed and people will like. Do it in plenty and you are definitely going to get it back, if not all.

I think the old fashioned way of cultivating your Twitters by recommendation is the best…but from a business standpoint, I guess trying to get as many as you can to spread the business-word is a good thing.

Be original in your approach, if you do not succeed with one idea change your approach and you will soon identify what is working and what is not. I tweet about business and internet developments, and stick to my niche.
Nobody wants to know about what I am having for dinner because I am not a celebrity so give people what they want and always remember to change your approach and not to give up.

Some great tips. As has been said it’s important to engage with people and more than anything be timely.
Often we will leave twitter on all day, checking regularly, to ensure that we are able to respond to tweets as soon as possible.
Also, say things that will benefit others, no one really cares about you feeling tired / bored etc.

I bought 2,500 followers at http://www.sproutfollowers.com. They were non targeted followers. Then 2 days after receiving the followers I followed verified accounts of celebs on twitter. After doing this people must of saw me as similar to them, and with having lots of followers they are now following me. Simple!
