You know what’s funny with this question ? Its one question everyone asks on Twitter..yep everyone ! Right from the guy who just started off on Twitter to the guy who’s sitting there right on top. “How to get followers..more followers on Twitter ?”
Followers are like money.
The guy who has a couple of them wants hundreds while the guy with thousands wants to beat Mr.Kutcher!
Now, don’t tell me that Twitter is all about good karma, bliss and living happily ever after ! Everybody knows that everyone is looking for more followers. Period.
But of course, things get nasty when you do things really over the top. Some people get obsessed with follower number and that’s when the whole chemistry goes wrong.
Anyway, here are some realistic, working tutorials that I found interesting. No magic wand stuff here, but practical examples from people who really made it. So nothing wrong in taking a tip or two from them. Here goes.

And here’s my two cents on getting more followers on Twitter.
Twitter is essentially a communication tool, it has been modified to so many different ways by usage, so everyone has their own idea of using Twitter. Some think that its a marketing tool so they go around posting affiliate links to their tweets, while some think that Twitter is a communication medium so they use it as an alternative for their IM client.
However you use Twitter, there are some common things every twitter user agree on. Everybody needs a valid reason for following someone else on Twitter and that is the only thing that you should worry about.
What will you give to others if they follow you ? Ask yourself that question and do what you can. Nobody wants to follow you just because he’s your friend. If he doesn’t follow you he can save on some API’s at least. So give people a reason to follow you. Here are some tips that ay help you.
1 – Share value with people
Give them links to interesting websites – Like funny pics or resource lists to free download googies. If you know them, share it with your followers. Most people like such stuff, there’s nobody who doesn’t.
2 – Communicate well
- Reply to interesting people, get in to discussions and make your point. Don’t just sit there watching the tweets flow, if you see opportunities in them, pounce right away, grab the opportunity and prove your point. It all adds up to your reputation.
3 – Do favours for others and get them in return
- There are lot of good things you can do people on Twitter. Retweet them, answer their questions, help them find and answer to questions, follow them on #followfriday. These are all things that will get you noticed and people will like. Do it in plenty and you are definitely going to get it back, if not all.

I think the old fashioned way of cultivating your Twitters by recommendation is the best…but from a business standpoint, I guess trying to get as many as you can to spread the business-word is a good thing.
