WordPress 2.8 bugs fixed, 2.8.1 beta released
| Tweet | Share |
Approximately ten days after the release of WordPress 2.8, WordPress has released its 2.8.1 Beta version promising to fix all the bugs that were present in Baker.
Here are some of the notable issues that are fixed in beta 1.
- Certain themes were calling get_categories() in such a way that it would fail in 2.8. 2.8.1 works around this so these themes won’t have to change.
- Dashboard memory usage is reduced. Some people were running out of memory when loading the dashboard, resulting in an incomplete page.
- The automatic upgrade no longer accidentally deletes files when cleaning up from a failed upgrade.
- A problem where the rich text editor wasn’t being loaded due to compression issues has been worked around.
- Extra security has been put in place to better protect you from plugins that do not do explicit permission checks.
Here are the complete list of bugs fixed in WordPress 2.8.1.

Need to check whether fixed the editor issue. its a serious bug.
I appreciate your sharing of your research. I will post this also on one of my blogs about blogging. Thanks so much and keep up the great work.
I was waiting for bugs to get worked out before upgrading.
Its not fixed
WordPress is our fav blogging platform, however I think the deveopers start to move faster in releasing ‘new versions’.
Look for example we have 2.7 then a fixed release (2.7.1) and hooop we jumped to 2.8 in few months. I think it’s not about releasing but about the quality that we all love in WP.
