Is domain age and seo related ? Yes, is what I’d love to believe, however there’s nothing to get too excited about it.
When calculating the SEO value of a website (particularly when comparing with competition) SEOs generally count the age of a domain. The more the age, the better.
Similarly, some SEOs also believe that the “future age” or the time to which a domain has been registered also makes sense, if not to a significant level as any other SEO metric. It might just say to Google, that we’re going to be around for a longer time, and are pretty serious about what we do, and that we have no plans of getting sold out the next year.
So while registering domains, if you are serious about what you’re doing, register for a longer time, forget Google, you might even get some good discounts
But SEO-wise, yes domain age matters, even though less significantly.

I love the domain name vs. brand recall item. This question plagues me often.. go for the seo friendly url or go for something catchy. I feel as though search engines will get rid of the URL being weighted so highly soon but for now I think it is too important to dismiss.

In my experience domain age is more importance in SEO.

All other things being equal, an aged domain might give you some advantage, but nothing that a couple of good links wont negate. An aged domain with 10 links to it versus a fresh one with 100’s will have zero advantage.

While domain age is very important, doesn’t a fairly new website with a lot of content and a ton of backlinks have a significant advantage since it has more presence on the web? I might be off base a bit but that’s how it seems.
