So what’s new in SEO world ? Faster Performance, Weight Loss and Shorter Page Load Times, as we had mentioned earlier. Google recently introduced a new tool to their Webmasters stable that will basically check how fast your pages are loading, and give you insights on the same. So what does that imply ?

Page Load Times have become more important than ever. People like fast loading pages, and so do search engines. So if you’re on a shared hosting or have a bloated website by any chance, its high time to upgraded.

You can see the page load time check tool in the webmasters console under the labs section.

What does the Site Performance tool do ?

- Checks overall page loading time, gives you a visual representation of how your pages have been performing all this while.

- Selects pages that take time to load, so you know who’s the culprit.

- Gives you suggestions on how to improve the page load time for the pages on the site.

Essentially, this is a tool that analyzes your overall site performance and helps you improve it, comparing it with the standards. A good move from Google, now its work time for webmasters.

Off to reduce some KBs. ;)

  1. What is the best loading time according to you? I tried few tools to check my website speed but the result was quite shocking. iwebtools shown me 4-7 sec variation but webmaster tool has shown me 30 sec. That is a big difference.
It look like it is a time for new era of fast web world.

    You’re right Ricky,
GWM is showing longer page load times compared to other online page load time testing tools such as iwebtool or pingdom. I think the difference is that GWM looks at average loading time from various connection speeds OR a slower connection. Online tools like pingdom on the other hand checks it from a faster connection probably and hence the difference.

I think the Google WM load time specs would be longer on average, so theres no need to panic. A good 7-10 secs however would be ideal.
But this is something we got to study.

    Cheers !

  3. Get the speedy websites, it’s time to set multiple servers in different regions for better ranking in Google. It takes couple of seconds for visitors to either land on your website or leave it, Google has realized it, we need to speed up:)

Great article. I knew that fast loading time was good few users, obviously, but didn’t know that Google now takes it into account with SEO.

Now for CMS, like WordPress and Joomla!, do too many plugins affect load time? How do you combat this?

  5. I am moving servers just incase! Gives me an excuse to buy new hardware tbh :)

  6. My Blog takes about 13.6 sec to load acc to GWM, using WP ne trick to bring it down ??

    Neways thanks for the notification..:-)

  7. It’s funny with Google whenever they seem to say things like P”page load may be a factor” What they really mean is you bet your ass it will.

Good and useful information. Found another article on Internet marketing, it seems to have good information about SEO

  9. Then I suppose, all the blogs on word press software should use pure xhtml kind of stuff and also reduce the number of php functions, hmm…need to see how it is possible.

  10. I have a 30 second page loading time. How should I go about reducing it? I actually have plenty of plugins in the database but very few in operation. Does that impact the speed too? I already have the WP-Super cache plugin installed. Any other way which could reduce load time? Thanks.

  11. I read that a little while ago, google was changing algorithms how web sites are to be graded, and Loading Speed is one very important factor. Pulling my ol’ trusty stop watch out.

  12. This is a very interesting post and not the first time I have read that page load time will become a factor in Google’s Page Rank algorithm.
Also the inclusion of such information in Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) is a relevant sign.
But I must say I find odd that Google doesn’t receive the ga.js (Google Analytics js source) that is included in web pages as Gziped, even if the page itself is received as Gziped content by GWT. This could be revised by Google.

  13. If this page speed has become a factor for getting google’s favor then everybody have to revamp their websites and new websites have to take into account the load time testing.
