Google Wave = #Fail, Google Buzz = May be Fail – Here’s why
So Google have the next big thing rolled out to you – Google Buzz. And you still don’t have it in your inbox, some “lucky” ones do. As I write this, there’s no buzz here and I don’ regret. The last time Google got me excited for a invite only / batch roll out product was Google Wave, and there it went down the flush, and my excitement for Google products.
So this time, when Google hinted the new product, I wasn’t as excited as the last time. Its not fair for me to write a review without trying the product, I agree but there’s a lot of reviews happening around, you can easily make out if this is it, or not.
So, assuming this is a kick ass product, here are some of my “guesses speculations” if you can call it that way.
Why I’m not excited for Google Buzz, even when it might be the next big thing.
1. Google is not meant to be social. Its not what it is for.
At least that’s the perception many have, including me. Friendfeed is the best possible social tool with them at the moment, and anything beyond it is simply pulling the ends to a breaking point.
2. This is Google’s last chance to go social, and chances are it might end up being out there, below the best.
Even if Google did something extra ordinary here, there’s a “stickyness” I feel with FB and Twitter, Google will only be competing to get me to try something, never switch. However, I know Google loyal fans would even switch, but I’m quite sure this is not going to be a game changer or anything close.
3. Everything social is with Twitter and FB. I don’t want a new guy doing the same thing again.
If Google does it right, they might just do it extremely well than others, but that’s not the primary reason I use GMail for Godsake. They have the best products out there in Search, Gmail, Docs and Reader , why don’t they stick to it ?
4. Gmail is personal, the best I can do is get social with my intimate group. Not beyond it.
I assume many would defend this. But when I mean social media, its beyond any brackets, a large platform which fits well on Twitter and FB. I doubt if Gmail or any Google product would match it.
5. Google disappointed me with Wave. This time I’m not impressed.
I’m taking it personal this time. Wave wasn’t worth the hype AT ALL ! This time, you’re not taking me for a ride.
Having said that, these are my personal views, I bet many of you will disagree, especially the ones who’ve used it already. What are your thoughts ? Does this product really have the buzz to take over or is it buzzzzzz……. ?

I might be trying Buzz just because I already have an account and I’m thinking, “Why not?” Other than that I don’t see a point to it. But then again there are tons of micro-blogging services out there. Somehow Twitter came out on top. It’s not something I’d try. Right now I’m thinking of mirroring my tweets on both Twitter and Identi.ca. The only reason is because they accept OpenID. Most of these services, I wouldn’t make an account on. I’d only try them if they let me login with an account I already have (OpenID).
I think they might be only using Buzz right now as a testing ground for other things. Probably what they were doing with Wave. Just for testing. If they see a strong demand, they might keep it up. If they don’t, they’ll just incorporate some of the things they developed in other applications.
The only reason why they don’t stick to what they have is this: If they did that they can’t advance. They would’ve just stuck to search and not have created Docs and Gmail and all the other services they offer.
Agreed with the above commentor’s views.. true if they would have stuck to their primary forte thats the Search Engine..then we would’nt be njoying the ultimate mail service till now..So I think they should try themselves in every field but upto certain limits.
Also, the main reason Google’s other products like orkut & wave are not popular bcoz they are not socially active..They must integrate with some good social sites & make themselves active in the social world.
I dont agree with you. here’s why :

I tried Buzz, didn’t like it.
Well I got Buzz today…its quite promising though !!
Loved reading this post, do you also have some sort of newsletter?
What about Orkut , I really appreciate if you can contact Google for this issue. A Fact. Orkut is one of the best product google. Google don’t care about it. Google can make it search engine friendly. Once Orkut become search engine friendly. It will defeat Facebook. Facebook have the support from millions of site because it offers services to webmasters too.
Orkut is listed under top 60 websites in the world which is really great. Orkut have search engine traffic almost 0% Where facebook have search engine traffic about 10% . in mid of 2008 mostly all webmasters trying to promote their websites on orkut and at that time orkut rank reach to rank 5. but they were fail. end of 2008 facebook become very popular among webmasters as they support them too. result orkut loose its grip and facebook gain.
