The Facebook Gold account scam is out – Don’t fall for it !

Looks like there’s a new scam sprouting up everyday on facebook, apart form the security threat speculations that is.

The latest to hit is the “Facebook Gold” accounts scam, to which many have already fallen for.

A group of people created a group called the “Facebook Gold” members group which promises of a special status on Facebook if you joined the group. Well, it doesn’t promise anything in writing but leaves you to figure things out, but first you got to join the group and do a few things.

Before joining the group this is what it asks you to do.

1) Drag and drop the Facebook® Gold™ logo (yes, the one on the left) onto your desktop. Upload it as your new profile picture – and you’re away!

2) Copy and paste the following into your status:
Official BETA tester of Facebook® Gold™ account

3) Copy and paste the following comments on your friend’s…

Doing this much will itself make your profile turn fake by being the groups brand ambassador, when you yourself don’t have a clue of what this thing is. If you look at the group members, you’ll find that all of them have the same logo and the same status. This creates curiosity among your friends and more will join soon, and I guess that alone is the groups motto.

To spread an idea that doesn’t even exist. You join the group thinking you’ll get an elated status only to know that you just gave a false message to your friends by doing so.

Clever spamming strategy by the creators huh ? I’m not sure if joining the group will harm your account, I doubt it. Anyways, the false message is all they’re looking for, and clearly many are jumping in.

Facebook Price Grid Gold Accounts Scam – Latest

FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP. $9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES, $6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES, $3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, FREE IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WHEN YOU SIGN ON TOMORROW MORNING YOU WILL BE PROMPTED FOR PAYMENT INFO…IT IS OFFICIAL IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS. FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES. IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY

This is the latest scam to hit facebook. Since the last couple of days, there is this fake message being sent by people in the above format. People who are copy-pasting this to their statuses do not know of the authenticity of this message and they are blindly copy pasting it “trusting” the earlier guy who posted it.

The message is completely false.

There are no gold memberships from Facebook and as far as we know, they are not planning to launch one in the near future. Funny thing is, if at all they are releasing a gold premium membership, there’s no way that you’re going to get it free if you copy paste this stupid message to your status.

This is a clever messaging however by the original spammer. And timed well too. Since the new facebook features were released earlier this week and there was quite a bit of news on it, people tend to fall for it.

All we got to say is – DO NOT fall for such scams. And tell your friends how false it is, don’t let them be stupid.

For all new releases from Facebook, check http://blog.facebook.com – If you cannot find any update there, then the message is only a rumor and false.

Spread the message. Share this with those who are copy-pasting false messages to their statuses.

  4. People must always go with an official announcement via email (from developer site) or some writings in their blog. We shouldnt accept things blindly..

  7. You’d think Facebook would be all over this one. It has to violate the TOS.

But apart from having a big gold F on your profile picture…what is the purpose? What is it even advertising or looking for…sorry if I sound dumb, but if it isnt actually infecting you, or spamming you other than this Gold F, or accessing your info… Im not getting what it is all about.

Yes, this was all a joke to troll the people who were duped into thinking facebook was ever going to charge for their service. LOL, u mad?

However, they are now offering the Facebook® Premium™ account. For a small monthly fee, you can have faster access to your News Feed & games, get free NetFlix & WOW accounts and 100 GB of web hosting space. They are not publicly announcing it, you have to contact their Customer Service and demand it. At first they will deny it but keep demanding and they will eventually admit it. But don’t take it from me, check with them.
