Why Dubai ? Because, Dubai is where you get electronic stuff at cheaper prices compared to the rest of the world. But, that’s not the focus here.
When the Samsung Galaxy Tablet was released, it was like saying “This is how the iPad should’ve been made”. Some folks even compared it to the iPad considering it as a direct competitor in the market, which was fair enough.
The reality is that the Samsung Galaxy tablet is not directly in competition with the iPad, even though it is in the tablet segment. The reason ? Samsung did not try to overdo the iPad in what it was already good at. Rather, it focused on the things iPad missed to do, and did it extremely well. And, we have a pretty good product today.
The Samsung Galaxy Tablet – Is it better than the iPad ?
Before giving you a direct answer, I’d like to draw your attention to what these two amazing products do, what they are good at and what they differ in.
The Apple iPad is an amazing product. No doubt. All Apple products to me are platinum. They’re great pieces of engineering. But there’s also something with these too perfect products that doesn’t work with me sometimes. I repeat, sometimes. Not always.
I love to use the iPad, the apps are amazing, and the device is truly word class. But certain things (which might be negligibly silly) make me leave unsatisfied. For instance, the size. Although, its a tablet, I’m not really comfortable carrying it around. I mean, I cannot carry it around in my hand. Its bulky to hold in my hand, that I often have to carry it in my laptop bag or something, which defeats the purpose of a tablet. I mean, if I’m carrying my laptop bag, I’d also be carrying my laptop with it.
But if I’m leaving my iPad at office or home, I’d love to use it. But that’s just my personal opinion.
Now, on the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy tablet is awesome when it comes to mobility.
Let me be clear. Like many of you out there, I’m someone who often multi tasks. I skype, I facebook, I tweet, I work on documents, I need email, I might click a few random snaps, video…. you name it. And the fact is that, I cannot be carrying my laptop all around. Instead, I have multiple gadgets. I have a DSLR camera, an HTC Android phone and an MBP that does the job often. But the problem is that, carrying all the three around is often a burden on the shoulders.
This is where the Samsung Galaxy Tablet comes in. It does pretty much all the jobs I do.
Videos, Photos, Tweets, Facebook, RSS Reader, Games, Calls – everything. It does it all !
The Samsung Galaxy Tablet is not a replacement for your PC nor an iPad. But its a device that has a bit of everything and does all the jobs well, all the while putting no pain on your shoulders. Which is what a tablet should do in the first place.
If you look at it technically, comparing the iPad and the Samsung Tablet is a bit unfair for both devices. However the Samsung Galaxy Tablet does a better job at it. (Click here for details)
So, is it worth buying a Samsung Galaxy Tablet ?
Few questions, and you can make your own decision.
1 – Do you multi task, like tweets/browsing/emails ?
2 – Do you want to escape the hassles of uploading photos/videos to the web after clicking them ?
3 – Did you ever wish if your laptop was lighter ?
4 – Do you need a better tablet than the Apple iPad ?
If your questions are YES to these questions, yes its really worth buying the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Otherwise, you might want to wait another few more months for the Windows 7 tablet.
