So, you have either your name on Google or some one else who’s got your name put up some information on Google (which you’re not comfortable of) and you want it removed.

Many a times without even knowing, our information lands up on Google, thanks to Facebook and other social networks! If you have a very common name, then God bless you.

But removing your name from Google is not impossible

1. Find out which website has your name

Do a Google search and find out who or which website has your name covered. Get the URL of the website.

2. Before trying to remove your name, see if the webmaster is open to contact. If yes, contact him politely and ask him to remove your name. Share the url with him so he doesn’t have to waste his time finding out where your name appears.

3. If the webmaster is not available to contact, do the following steps.

Go to this webpage. Fill in the form. It will ask you your full name, contact email etc. This will be used to contact you, so fill them in genuinely.

Give the URL of both the Google search results page where your information appears and the URL of the website that has your information.

Select “The page contains my full name or the name of my business” and click submit.

Now wait. Google will process your request and contact you for additional information so make sure you respond to them quickly.

It might take some time, as Google search results page aren’t manually edited. But Google responds to such requests pretty quickly these days.

So removing your name from Google isn’t impossible. It is possible, provided you do it the right way. All the best.
