To a lot of people, finding out what their audience wants is a big deal.

They’ll run tests, view heatmaps of their site, perform in person studies and at times, still not provide what their audience is really looking for. Despite me writing an article with some of these suggestions, I’m a big believer in the idea that most of the time, your audience doesn’t really know what they want. That is, until you give it to them. For that reason, I like to really focus on what I put out to the world, rather than what I get back, and interact in the communities where I believe my audience are. I can then gauge the work I’m doing by the response to what I’m producing. Only then do I think that you should start testing and tweaking, to help your audience get exactly what they’re looking for.

My best blog posts and my biggest websites have not been things that people asked me to write or create specifically, but ideas I had that I thought my audience would like, and I was right. However, using some of the methods I’m going to share below, I have found topic ideas that I want to share, and I know readers are looking for, and made tweaks to my website that have both increased pageviews and reader engagement.

Use a Google Custom Search Engine

For the last 4 weeks, I had a Custom Search Engine (“CSE” from now on) from Google in the sidebar of my blog. I believe search functionality is important, but right now I don’t think it is an absolute necessity for my site as I only have 30 (albeit very long) articles. Using your current Google account, you can get the code for the search box and integrate it into your site in a number of ways. You can even change lots of colour settings so that it blends in nicely with your site design. The great thing about this is that you can link it to Google Analytics to find exactly what people are searching for in this box and which pages they are clicking for that query. Even if you don’t use Google Analytics, you can find the most common search terms by logging into the CSE admin panel online. This has given me some great post ideas and allowed me to really understand my audience, without asking them for anything directly.

Check Pages with the Lowest Bounce Rate

It makes sense that if you have posts that people are clicking on and leaving very quickly, that’s not what your readers are interested in. It also makes sense that if some posts have a low bounce (staying on the site for longer) rate, that’s the type of content people like to read. The focus of the content isn’t always the best indicator of why the bounce rate is low. I also recommend you look at:

The length of the content readers are enjoying

The style of the post (text / images / video) and whether it provided action points, shared news or just gave advice

Whether you had a lot of outbound links on the posts

Whether you had a lot of internet links on the posts

The source of traffic (Stumbleupon traffic, for example, will usually always increase your bounce rate)

All of these things will give you a good idea as to the type of content that your audience is looking for. From there you can provide more of it.

Monitor Social Media Engagement

Do you know which of your blog posts are the most popular? Do you know which type of posts are getting you the most tweets? Do you know how many saves to Delicious your last list post managed to pick up? I do. And I do, because I care about traffic from large social media portals and providing more content that my audience wants to share. First of all, I use the Backtype plugin for Wordpress which tells me exactly how many tweets each of my posts are getting when I look at the post (which increases the use of the feature, as well). Secondly, I can head on over to Delicious and type in “site:www.viperchill.com” (substitute for your domain) and find out exactly how many people are saving each of my posts. You’ll also find people leaving mini-reviews on Delicious, which is excellent feedback that isn’t coming to you directly. I’m currently using a service called Postrank which emails me lots of cool information like this on a daily basis, but it has a monthly fee so won’t be for everyone. If you don’t know the types of posts that people are sharing, then you’re missing out on great information that can help you write more viral content in the future.

Use Google Forms to Capture Post Suggestions

I had this idea a few days ago and whilst I have not implemented it myself, can see it being a great way for your audience to quickly give you article ideas that you can monitor. Google Forms is a tool in Google Docs (and Apps) that easily allows you to set-up feedback forms that can then send data directly to a spreadsheet, also in Google Docs. My idea is simply that you set-up a one field form and grab the HTML code to add it into your blog sidebar. From there, simply add some text along the lines of “Like [site name]? We want to make your experience here better. Please tell us the most valuable article we could write for you in the form below!” Because this data goes directly into a spreadsheet, you can easily analyse it and find the most common suggestions. You can then really give your audience what they’re looking for.

Run a 3 Question, Reader Survey

I say a 3-question reader survey, because people get carried away with asking far too many questions to their audience when they hear suggestions like this. The extra options usually just scare away anyone who would have been happy to give feedback. Not only does a survey with a lot of questions put people off, it will also give you a lot of feedback that you really don’t need. When I owned PluginID, I ran a reader survey that just asked these questions:

In one or two sentences, why do you read PluginID?

What topics would you like to see me write about?

What do you think is the main thing I can help people with?

That’s it. Unlike blog comments, I also allowed the submissions to be completely anonymous and made providing an email address optional. You may think this opened me up to spam and trolls, but there was not one immature entry in the 150+ replies that the survey received in just 48 hours. I once again used Google Forms for this and instantly had a whole host of posts ideas. I believe that connecting on different levels like this creates a stronger bond between you and your readers.

Two Additional Bonus Tips

I find that I’m able to put my own spin on a lot of topics, so I like to think I’ve shared a number of new ideas for you to try here, rather than give the generic advice that usually comes with this topic. My two bonus suggestions are a little generic, but they can give you great feedback.

1. Start a Poll – Now and then I like to run a sidebar poll and see what people are most interested in. Surprisingly, every time I do this, there is an unexpected clear favourite. For example, you may want to run a poll with 4 different post ideas and say “which would you like me to write next?” The results may be completely different to what you expect.

2. Allow Posts to Be Rated – Depending on your audience, they may be far more inclined to rate articles rather than leave comments or link to them. If your site is attractive to the “youtube crowd” or you’re not really a text-based blog, then this may be a better way to get feedback on your work.

As I stated earlier, I’m all for going with what I think an audience wants and building a crowd who loves what I love. If you tweak your work so much just to please others, you’ll be all over the place and lose the flow (and love?) for your work. I think you should use these as an added extra to help you provide more value to your audience, but don’t allow them to completely overhaul your strategy and direction.

What’s so cool about blogging ? Its easy, and anyone who can write emails can do it quick and dirty, let their thoughts be known the world and get feedback in no time. Now, don’t get me wrong but I’m entirely positive when I say that the noise is more than signal among blogs world wide. If you were to categorize bloggers based on their productivity (which itself is a debatable term) then there would be a dominating amount of “strugglers” than “achievers”. Agree ? No ? Okay, lets see where it goes.

I’m taking off my blogger’s hat. I’m thinking like a student fresh out of college, researching on whether he should take blogging as a career or not. I put on his spectacles, and this is what I see, and here are the results.

What do I see most on the web ?

- People promising to teach you something “too good to be true”
- Experts who sells CD’s and tutorial videos.
- Experts who’re already successful by telling people how they want to be successful.
- Products that if you buy will probably make you richer over nite.
- Some random SEO guy who keeps telling him how one can get backlinks from virtually anywhere on the internet.
- Adsense tips.

What do I don’t see most on the web ?

- Successful people revealing their income sources.
- Experts not talking in real terms or practicality.
- Experts who don’t have certificates from accredited universities like the one I went to.
- People who don’t mention anything about the time he took to buy that ferrari he’s posing with.

Now, lets not take it personal with the “gurus” out there. This is what someone who’d search the web would often come across. Lots of fluff than the real stuff – unfortunately. That’s the web for you. Blogs are no different. I’m not trying to say that there aren’t any blogs at all that pass value. There sure are and we all know how many of them are there really. And we know who’s faking it. But if you’re a blogger, you’ll know how difficult is it to come up with ideas that are acceptable by the crowd daily. And its not the blogger’s mistake if he finds it hard. I’d say its the listener’s mistake.

Why does an “Internet Success Guru” survive ? Because he never runs out of “clients”. So if you’re being one, you just promoted the idea, mind you. Now, who’s to blame ?

So if you’re being a blogger who’s doing all that things that doesn’t make any sense but give you the “fake celebrity status” and gets you running with that “possibly it’ll make me some money before my last vacation” thoughts, here are some clues for ya.

- Read your reader’s mind.

And what does that mean ?Use your brain. Forget those keyword tools and internet data. Imagine you’re speaking to a group of real people, with similar mind set, and think of why they would listen to you. What could make them happy ? What’s that they anticipate from you ? Find answers, list them down, brood over it.

- Don’t fake.People can see right through your words.

Did you know that faking is easy and many people do it already ? What you’re doing is that you’re just being one among the crowd, with no difference, value what so ever. Be original, now that takes some guts, and not many people are courageous enough to take it up. You be it, you be it.

- Don’t try to be somebody who’s already known for his face or words.

Well technically it means – don’t f***ing copy others ! ‘Nuff said.

- Don’t be a news agency. Leave it to them please.

Do you know which category has the most number of blogs ? Technology. And you know why ? Because technology news is easily gobbled up by the community. But do you know why technology sucks ? Because you need expertise, and not all can be experts. And you know what separates a loser technology blogger from a successful technology blogger ? Time. Yes time. So there was a software that launched yesterday and Techcrunch and Mashable reported it already, its on the front page of dig and there are 300 f***ing comments already made. Now you go to your tiny little blog and “break the story” ? What happens ? If possible, readers would draw graffitis on your homepage. I can’t even imagine what they’d write though. Probably something nasty.

- Bring things into perspective. Don’t yap.

Oh wait, now you must be thinking, this dude is telling me to do all the things that’s difficult and not so easy huh ? Well, my friend that’s the game all about. You do easy things, you get forgotten easily. You do difficult things, and you stand a chance to win the lottery.

Ever since Google Social Search was launched, I’ve been trying my best to like it, to use it and possibly make it a habit. But looks like its more a nuisance than anything else, if at all.
But honestly, the thing is pretty interesting, enough to get a Google lover excited. And it does to some level, even though quite not there, and in a wrong direction. Lets jump in.

Google Social Search is a new value addition to Google search, that could transform the way information reaches you. I can think of 100 possible ways to think why this is important, but lets not get in to it. Being a Google lover, the Google search box is the most used tool in my daily web experience, and I have enough convincing reasons to believe that there are quite a lot of similar thinking people out there. I trust Google for the information it provides me, I trust their algorithms and I trust their results. They have never been misleading, except a few times, which is ignorable. But this time around, Google has gone truly overboard with their decision to go social.

Why I wouldn’t want to trust Google Social Search

1. I trust Google’s algorithm, and now I see we have it manipulated.

Not technically though, but it shows in the results. For years Google have been giving me excellent search results, and I’d expect them to improve at that rather than deviating from it.

2. I prefer Google, not because Bing is bad or Yahoo is stupid.

Honestly, those guys are doing their best to give us better SERPs, but Google clearly have an upper hand with it and have been doing the basics right, hence the great results. In fact, Bing have been doing a good show ever since its launch recently. And with the introduction of Google Social Search, I fear Google is getting closer to Bing or Yahoo.

3. If I need to search my social circle, I’d rather use social media.

Google was never in the social game earlier, and I cannot immediately go ahead and think of them as a replacement to Twitter search . They never will replace Twitter search and even if they tried, they came very close with Twitter integration and that’s all we wanted. We don’t want Google to be Twitter.

4. Google should do what they are best at, and not try to be Twitter.

The social media circle is enormous and the growth rate is envious. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going to ignore Google. If Google wants to kill Twitter, I simply think that’s an immature call.

5. I agree I haven’t been using friendfeed, but injecting it to my Google search results is not the right way to push it.

We all know that friendfeed is a better social networking tool than anything else out there, but it doesn’t really have the charm to pull me towards it. Twitter’s got it, facebook’s got it, but friendfeed is more like a social network on feedburner. I know its cool, but I’m not going to use it. But when did that become a convincing reason to start pushing it on the SERPs ??!!

Anyways, these are my personal views about the Google Social Search. I haven’t found it interesting yet, even though at the back of my mind, I think that it might be something awesome. May be I’ll change my mind if I find it interesting enough for daily use.

What are your thoughts on Google Social Search ?

If you’re running Google AdSense Ads on a site, you would’ve definitely come across the situation where sometimes either no ads show up or completely irrelevant ads come up. And what do you do ? Well, like many of the webmasters, just sit back relax and hope that things would improve.

Looks like Google understands it, and now has openly admitted that this could have happened because of your mistake rather than theirs. Not just that, they’ve come down for your help too.

Google is running a series of AdSense Help articles to help webmasters who have problem optimizing their AdSense ads. And this time around they’ve addressed the issue of AdSense ads not showing up sometimes. Listed below are the factors that Google think might be preventing from Ads showing up on sites. Take a look, they’re insightful even though basic.

Did you just add the code to that page? Relevant ads should appear on your pages shortly after you add the code, but sometimes it can take up to 48 hours for ads to show. This is because our crawler has to visit your page and determine its content so we can serve targeted ads.

Does the code on your page match the code in your account? Make sure to copy the code exactly as it appears in your account, and paste it within the body tags of your HTML code. Be sure not to make any changes to the linebreaks of the code (e.g. pasting the code all in one line) as this will break the code and prevent ads from showing entirely.

Are you using an HTML editor? Publishers often use a design-enhanced HTML editor like Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage (aka WYSIWIG, “what you see is what you get” software). If you use such an editor, you may see errors if you paste your ad code into a WYSIWYG view such as the “Design” or “Layout” view. For the ads to function properly, you’ll have to copy and paste the ad code into the HTML source code of your webpage using the editor’s HTML view or HTML insert function. Check for any additional tags inserted by the system or changes in the linebreaks.

Are you using a content management system (CMS)? If you have trouble implementing AdSense with a specific content management system, we recommend searching for the name of the CMS (eg. Drupal, WordPress) and ‘AdSense implementation’. You can also ask in the forum if other publishers have mastered similar problems, or contact your program provider directly.

Are the ads inside nested frames? While you can choose where to position your ads on your pages, be sure to avoid embedding the ad code in excessive div tags or nested frames. Depending on your browser settings, implementing your ad code in this way might prevent ads from appearing correctly.

Is JavaScript enabled in your browser? Ensure that you have JavaScript enabled in your browser, as this is necessary to view ads! If you’re having trouble seeing the ads, please also check for any conflicting JavaScript on your site that might prevent ads from showing.

Is your page dynamically generated? If you’d like to implement AdSense ads on a dynamically generated site — for example, a site with session IDs or pages behind a login — you should take a look at this Help Center entry for more information on how to receive targeted ads.

How to detect malware ? Find out if your site is hacked.

First off, if you want to find out if Google found suspicious code on your site, use the following URL, appending your domain name to the end part.

http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://www.dailyseoblog.com

Surprisingly many of the times, when a site is hacked, (I don’t mean the ones like Twitter gets once a while, where you get a totally different homepage) webmasters don’t realize that the site is hacked. This is because only a part of the site is hacked, and you know it only when you see a dip in traffic / indexed number of pages.

So the important factor is to identify a hack, as soon as possible, so that you can do all that you can do minimize the ill-effects that may occur.

1. Sudden drop in number of indexed pages

When I say drop, I mean a huge one like in thousands. Indexed number of pages are heavily fluctuated and if you take it seriously can cause unnecessary worries. But if you see that either a huge part of your site is not showing up in the google live index, OR your main pages don’t show up on the live SERPs (with a direct key phrase match) , then you might want to consider worrying.

2. Heavy dip in traffic

Mostly accompanied by a hack is dip in search engine traffic as Google would’ve already found the hacked pages and took the site out of index. You don’t want to let this happen to your site.

3. Google Webmaster Tools shows weird pages

Google Webmaster Tools are pretty quick in detecting malware on sites. And it has a lab feature where all the suspected malware code will be shown.

4. Site shows up for “black listed search queries”

When you search for phrases like “viagra” (unless you;re using them in some context) with your site: command search, your site shows up pages. That’s the last thing you want to see.

What should a webmaster do if he finds his site malware infected.

Step 1 – Check for security configuration on your servers. Check for Directory permission and Apache security. Find more details here.

Step 2 – Remove all outgoing links from the user generated areas of your site. Because, this area is often exploited by hackers. It wont in most probabilities clear the site of malware, but it will stop future risk.

Step 3 – Remove all Ad scripts running on the site. Many a times invisible iframes are used via advertisement codes used on your site without your knowledge, the best option is to keep away from such ad codes (especially from less reputed vendors) but if you end up in a situation, remove them.

Step 4 – Switch from Telnet and FTP to SFTP.
Telnet and FTP are both considered insecure because of their use of plain text protocols. They transmit usernames and passwords in a way that anyone with access to the network can read.

Step 5 – Take the site offline temporarily.

If you can’t get things back to normal, take it temporarily offline, so that Google don’t index more hacked pages and end up in more confusion. Then best way out is to issue s 503 status.

Step 6 – Let Google know that something has screwed up

You can let Google know that one or more URLs in your site has been compromised and you want to take it/them down. Use the URL removal tool from Google Webmasters Tool.

Step 7 – Fix what is wrong

If you can manually fix all the malware, well and good. Generally malware affects only parts of your site, like a footer.php or header.php. In such cases you can manually edit out the bad areas and roll back to fresh code. And once you’re completely sure that things are under control, request a malware review for the site.

Step – 8 Request a malware review from Google

Go to Webmaster Tools Home page, select your site.

In the Parts of this site may be distributing malware message, click More details.

Click Request a review.

If your site is completely screwed and Google has taken you down from the live index, you should think about clearing your site of possible malware by manually checking all the codes and once everything is safe, request a re-inclusion request.

How to prevent future malware problems ?

- Stay away from using WordPress/CMS themes, templates that have not been verified. Some themes (which are even available on popular sites) contain hidden code, that you won’t even realize.

- Do not entertain non-reputed vendors to publish ads on your site. Especially with Javascript code.

I’m a huge fan of Google PageRank. Not because I have a tendency to love anything Google, but because its the only authoritative and successful metric today that can grade websites for their authority. Its been there for ages now and though often speculative, it has given webmasters a generally accepted measure scale for websites. Even though Google says that its an algorithm based on the incoming number of links and the result of complex calculations no body can completely predict, many people understand it, and associate a lot of “quality assessment values” to the green bar.

“Less green = bad site, More green = Awesome !” – Is what many people believe of it, even though technically they may be incorrect.

But today I think that Google PageRank is a thing of the past. Google has forgotten to upgrade the great PageRank algorithm to match the current trends and climate. Ask me why ?

1. Many people still don’t know what the hell it is !

Believe me, many people think that its a ranking system for websites. So, if you score a pagerank 1, that means you are number one. Just like your school grades.

2. Google hasn’t bothered to explain us how exactly it functions.

And its not even necessary you may think. But hell no ! If this thing is out in public, it makes sense to exist if only everyone knew how it worked. Yes, Google has taken the pain in explaining a few things (what they say matters to you) but tell me if there’s one person who can tell us how the whole thing works ? No. Google guys will only say bits and pieces about it and probably the best explanation is “its our own metric to grade and calculate website authority based on number of backlinks”. How is it calculated ? How is it triggered ? When is is calculated ? Nobody told us. May be nobody even knows.

3. Google PageRank should’ve remained an internal tool at the Googleplex

I mean, other than the three month updates and the usual “is it live” discussions (not to mention the umpteen number of rumours) what good is it to us anyway ? If Google built it for website authority grading, they should’ve used it internally and not released it to public without planning to tell us how it works. Its your tool, keep it with you, we’re better off without it.

4. Google PageRank is heavily based on “backlinks” and not all of us are webmasters ! (Heck ! Some people even don’t know what a backlink is)

Think about it. Google says PageRank is completely or almost completely based on the number of incoming links a website gets. It does some funny calculations with the number of backlinks and the PageRank of the original website, before deciding the resulting PageRank of the new website. Fine. But my question to Google is..did you expect everyone in this world to be webmasters ? I hope not. But I also wish if that was the case. So that, just like everybody says hello, we would all say “link equals to – domain – rel equals to dofollow”. But that isn’t the case. We are humans, and if we love a website or a webpage, we simply email it to our friends, or tweet about it, or copy paste the URL to our networks. Don’t you think that’s also one of the metrics to count for “website authority” ?

5. Google PageRank can be easily “made up”, if you really want it or is obsessed with it.

So Google, you say the green bar fills up when more and more people link to our site, and on the other hand you expect people not to buy links ? Now, that’s a clever joke. Did you know that all you need is some cash in your PayPal account, and some time to buy “quality incoming links”. No, I’m not talking about directory submissions, but PR6 and above .edu backlinks ? You either know it or you’re pretending that you didn’t know. But trust me, its easy as that. And I’m not doing it because I know that I can run a popular site without buying links, and investing that much money on other productive things like hiring a content writer or a designer, you know…!

So, there you have it. Google PageRank is now obsolete. Its just another reason for “internet marketers” to sell SEO and Link building softwares. The clever know that its no more valid, it does not take the social media aspects into context, and is only a count of how many links point to your site (in a funny scale that is). And you might want to roll it back to the plex soon, at least you can avoid a lot of confusion in the world.

Its been quite some time now since a major redesign happened. Last time, I did it myself but this time around am looking for someone who has lot of time to spend, knows the trends and can provide me at least a few options. I’m looking for a trendy design with focus on speedy page load times, and useability. Of course, the must have options also should sync in to fit the audience.

DailySEOblog has an audience primarily of webmasters and SEO enthusiasts, who’re looking to learn, contribute and discuss about everything SEO. I’m not looking for a typical blog layout this time, but something different that will be refreshing as well as easy to adapt to. Some of the main things that come out in a brief are –

1 – A focus on content and usability.
DSB is best known for its content, and tits what many people find interesting. The new design would highlight the content.

2 – Social Media Options.
DSB readers are mostly social media savvy and the second largest traffic source after Google is Social Media, I’d like to leverage on that and provide options that will make it easier for people to engage with and share stories/discussion on DSB. That doesn’t mean plugging in an entire array of social bookmarking icons though, something very simple, but efficient like a Twitter button and a facebook discussion integration.

3 – Light weight.
I’m on a VPS now and would like to decrease the page load time to a minimum, possibly within 3-4 seconds. This is going to be a major challenge.

4 – Branding.
DSb will feature a distinct brand through the same colours (or something strikingly different that will convince me, but its not going to be easy) and a face lifted logo. Again, its about reaching up to the next level.

5 – Standing out.
The design must stand out from the rest by not following a traditional approach. The advertising areas are going to get a better placement different from the normal typical blog right hand sidebar solution. If possible, I want to move the 125×125 ads to the top area horizontally allowing it a better focus and making it easier for viewers to differentiate it from the content. Again, this is up for discussion.

I’ve contacted a few designers already, to see if they have the time and energy to spend time with me understanding the concept, but if you know anyone who can help me with this, please feel free to drop me an email. I’ll be glad to spent some time with you brainstorming.

Its a fact that a major chunk of your blog visitors are on RSS readers. And no, this post is not about making them visit your site, nor this is a post about increasing your RSS subscribers.

Since most of your (our) readers are on RSS feed readers, I thought it would make sense to do some customizations and control over the RSS feeds being delivered. Here are ten such awesome plugins for WordPress that would make some cool tweaks and changes to the original plain boring RSS feeds. Try them, they’re worth the time.

1. Enable RSS feed Subscription for Categories

This WordPress Plugin allows you to present a menu with multiple RSS feed subscription option to your site’s visitors in addition to your normal RSS subscription option.

Download

2. Track Clicks on Links in your RSS Feeds

RSS Feed Campaign Tagger, as the name implies, allows you to tag links in your WordPress RSS feed. It readies the links in the RSS feed for tracking with Google Analytics.

Download

3. Scrolling RSS Feeds on your sidebar

This one is really wild. While the average RSS feed plugins help you to plain list the RSS feed entries on your blog. This plugin simply scrolls them vertically, getting it the attraction it deserves.

Download

4. Copyright RSS Feeds with digital fingerprint.

Copyrights your RSS feed with a custom copyright message. Good way to dodge scrapers. You can add the IP of a feed reader and digital fingerprint for an explicit key as well. Also extensions such as related posts and comments are available.

Download

5. Restrict RSS Feeds to Registered users on the site

Feed Key adds a 32bit key for each of your users, creating a unique feed url for every registered on user the site. This allows you to restrict you feeds to registered users only.

Download

6. Enable RSS Feeds for pages instead of latest posts

This plugin replace your posts feeds with pages feeds. One problem with Wordpress is that the RSS feed only contains the latests posts and not pages. The idea I suppose is to have a feed which the blogosphere can use to know when there is updated news on your site. That’s ok for most Wordpress sites but when you are using as Wordpress as a CMS and thus using pages and not posts you can’t by put the pages into a feed.

Download

7. Track Traffic & Other Statistics via RSS Feeds

Feed Statistics is a plugin for Wordpress blogs that tracks statistics for your RSS/Atom feeds, including the number of subscribers, which feed readers they’re using, which posts they’re viewing and which links they’re clicking on.

Download

8. Pause a Feed/Post from being shown in the RSS Feeds

Feed Pauser is a plugin to delay publishing a post to an RSS feed. Feed pauser, pauses a post from being made available through RSS, and you can control it.

How does Feed Pauser work ?

Download

9. Create Customized RSS Feeds for your blog

This plugin creates a new RSS widget. You can use this to replace the built in RSS widget or along side it. It is substantially more powerful than the built in widget in that you have complete control over how the feed is displayed via XSL templates. The plugin also includes an admin page for creating, editing and deleting the xsl templates, along with running tests to ensure your environment supports the required features. Additionally some plugin-wide options may be configured.

Download

10. Show number of comments on a post in RSS feeds

This plugin will display an image showing the number of comments on a post at the bottom of each feed item (RSS|Atom|etc) that links to the comments section of that post.

Download
